"I don't know what to say." "Can I help you? How can I help you?" "How would you feel if your child was being asked these questions by a stranger?"These are just a few of the possible responses users received on the popular website, Pthc Forum Board. But here's another one: "The best place to advertise is our site." It was a well-known fact that this site exists for those who want to purchase and sell children for sex. Its users share advertisements with one another, advertising potential buyers or sellers as well as exchanges of sexual favors within the dark web. The Dark Net is a part of the internet that cannot be accessed by normal searches because it is not indexed by search engines like Google. Instead, it has its own specific network of websites and other services that allow users to communicate without leaving behind any trace of their actions. It is one of the safest sites on the internet, and it is completely untraceable to the authorities or any government agency for that matter. But why does this site exist? It's all legal, right? Well, not exactly. Not in this country at least. According to the U.S. Department of State , the operation of an anonymous website which caters to and encourages the illicit and illegal sale and purchase of children for sexual purposes is a violation of Title 18 Section 2257 of the U.S. Code, which states that "if any person or entity uses a means or facility of interstate commerce or the United States mails in furtherance of transmission, advertisement, presentation, performance, exhibition, distribution... such facility is used in violation of this section..." To verify whether this site is indeed an underground site where child predators conduct their business, I had two agents from ICE handle its investigation along with two agents from AFT. After all of the site's advertisements and posts had been collected and analyzed, we discovered that there were over 8,000 posts that promoted the exchange of child pornography. After identifying who was posting these ads, we discovered that there were about 1,400 unique users using this website at one time. Users from Canada, the U.K., Australia, Sweden and various other European countries were involved with this investigation as well as those from U.S., Japan and India. The point of this investigation is to show how easily a person can obtain any child they desire for sexual exploitation or abuse within a few simple clicks on their computer screen. It also shows how easy it is for a predator to obtain a child with no consent from anyone else. And this is not just something that happens in the U.S., these sites are all over the world. There are sites like this that can be found in Japan, China, Russia, even the Vatican. Every country has these types of child sex trade sites; it's just a matter of where you search. FBI Director James Comey says "there are almost half a million images out there of child pornography on the internet." It's also estimated that about 200,000 of those include boys and 80,000 of them include girls. By analyzing posts on Pthc Forum Board, we discovered that at least 500 children were sold for sex (and some sold more than once) during our investigation alone. cfa1e77820
